About: Roland Russwurm
Here are a few things about me, so you know who’s behind this site. If you have any questions, just drop me an email ;)
The idea for act-act-act was born when I was prepping for the psychology entrance exam in Austria (Vienna). Back then, all I had was the book (at the time, a book by Maderthaner was the official exam material), so I started making my own slides. Slides just make learning easier and more fun for me—I like to get creative and it keeps things interesting.
To quiz myself, I even built a private website and added in questions from old exams (coding is a hobby of mine, so it made sense).
After I passed the exam and the website was basically “done,” I updated it a year later, and since then it’s been online for anyone who’s preparing for the test.
The site is, of course, updated every year based on feedback from current test-takers. So if you have any useful info, feel free to let me know ;)
Professional
Professionally, I’ve tried my hand at a few things, mainly in network technology—I’m actually a CCIE Emeritus (#5503), which is basically a retired network pro ;)
I founded ANDTEK GmbH and spent years there as Managing Director and Authorized Signatory (until 2015). I also started ISNED GmbH, which is all about IT consulting and development. At Atlas-Körper-Zentrum, I’m the Business Development Manager.
When it comes to university training/education, there’s MOGMA GmbH, which not only offers an online simulation for the psychology entrance exam in Austria, but also useful tools for other courses and studies.
Beyond all that, I really enjoy working as a mentor and consultant, mostly in web and IT projects.
I was born in Austria, but spent over 20 years in Germany, and now I’m back living in Austria.
Education
A great part of my education as an electrical engineer happened at the HTL in Waidhofen/Ybbs. After that, I continued to the Technical University in Vienna, where I studied electrical engineering (Master in Computer Engineering), earning my Diplom-Ingenieur and Master of Science (Diploma thesis).
Tech-wise, I started out with software development (C, Java, C++, PHP) and later got into project organization (Scrum).
After finishing my Dipl.Ing. in electrical engineering, I branched out: I studied International Business Administration (IBW) (focus: Latin America) and completed another Master of Science in business (Paper from master’s thesis).
And yes, I’m still studying psychology (Master’s in Vienna)—which is actually why this whole site came about. If you’re curious about my bachelor thesis presentation, you’ll find it here: Procrastination, Perfectionism, and Motivation.
While studying psychology, I also wrote an English vocabulary dictionary and 36 Questions to Fall in Love. As soon as ChatGPT was released, I wrote The Introduction to ChatGPT as a quick intro to large language models.
I’ve also done a few other extra courses—including the NLP Practitioner and Coach with John Grinder and the NLP Master with Richard Bandler—it was pretty cool meeting them and getting new perspectives.
